Who we are.
Fíor Bia (“we”, “us”, the “app”) is operated by an independent team based in Ireland. This policy explains, in plain English, what data the Fíor Bia mobile apps and this website handle, and what we do with it.

What we collect.
Information you give us directly
None, by default. Fíor Bia does not require an account to use. We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number or date of birth to scan products.
If you choose to contact us via email (for support, press, or to report incorrect data), we receive the email address and the message you send us, and we keep it long enough to respond.
Information generated by using the app
- Barcode lookups. When you scan a product, the barcode is sent to our servers so we can return the corresponding product information. The lookup itself is logged for short-lived caching and abuse prevention only, and is not tied to an account or identity.
- Anonymous usage statistics. We measure aggregate things like which screens are opened, app crashes, and overall scan volume. These statistics are anonymous, contain no personal information, and are used only to make the app better.
- Device information. The basic technical info your device sends with any network request — operating system, app version, language. We do not use this to identify you.
Information that stays on your device
- Your scan history and recently-viewed products.
- Your preferences, dietary filters and saved items.
- Cached product data, so the app works offline for products you have already looked at.
None of this is uploaded to our servers. If you delete the app or clear data inside it, this information is gone.
What we don't.
- We don't sell your data to anyone. Not now, not later.
- We don't share your data with advertisers, data brokers, food brands, retailers, insurers, or any other third party for marketing.
- We don't use third-party advertising or behavioural tracking SDKs.
- We don't build a profile of you based on what you eat.
Third parties.
Fíor Bia relies on a small number of carefully chosen services to function:
- Open food data sources. Product information is sourced from community-maintained open food databases. Your scans are not shared with them as a profile — we only look up the barcode.
- Cloud hosting. Our servers and infrastructure are hosted with reputable EU-based providers. They process barcode lookups on our behalf and are contractually bound not to use the data for their own purposes.
- Crash & analytics. Anonymous, aggregated only. No tracking SDKs, no advertising IDs.
Your rights.
Under GDPR and equivalent laws, you have the right to:
- Access, correct or delete any personal information we hold about you.
- Object to or restrict our processing of your information.
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. In Ireland, this is the Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie).
Because we don't link scans to identity, in most cases there is nothing on our servers attributable to you. To delete everything on your device, open the app and go to Settings → Privacy → Clear all data. To exercise any of the rights above, email privacy@fiorbia.com.
Children's privacy.
Fíor Bia is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy.
If we change this policy in a material way, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continued use of Fior Bia after a change means you accept the updated policy.
